Brookings Institution is a
nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington, DC. Their
mission is to conduct high-quality, independent research and, based on
that research, to provide innovative, practical recommendations that
advance three broad goals: strengthen
American democracy, foster
the economic
and social welfare, security and opportunity of all Americans and
secure a more open, safe, prosperous and cooperative international
system. Brookings is proud to be consistently ranked as the

influential, most quoted and most trusted think tank.
Omni
Med's Dr. Edward O'Neil
acts as the Chair of the International Volunteer and Service Sector's
Task Force on Global Health Service.

| The US Peace Corps |

The
Peace Corps traces its
roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged
students at the
University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by
living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew
an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and
friendship. Today's Peace Corps is more vital than ever, working in
emerging and essential areas such as information technology and
business development, and committing more than 1,000 new Volunteers as
a part of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Peace Corps
Volunteers continue to help countless individuals who want to build a
better life for themselves, their children, and their communities.
Peace
Corps volunteers living
and working in Uganda have been essential to our VHT program, providing
on-the-ground support and development to help grow this program.

The
Center for Social Development conducts research that informs how
individuals, families, and communities increase capacity, formulate and
reach life goals, and contribute to the economy and society. Our
principal focus is on families and communities at the bottom of
society. Major areas of work include Asset Building and Civic
Engagement & Service.
Since
the spring of 2010, researchers at Washington University in Saint
Louis's Center for Social Development have partnered with Omni Med to
design and conduct a prospective, randomized clinical trial measuring
the efficacy of volunteer-based health training in Mukono, Uganda.

Health, Uganda |

The
Ministry
of Health Uganda, is
a government body set up with a mandate of policy formulation; quality
assurance; coordination of health research; and monitoring and
evaluation of overall performance of the health sector.
It works for a healthy, productive and wealthy population that
contributes to Economic Growth and National Development, and
works to
ensure the attainment of a good standard of health by all people in
Uganda in order to promote a healthy and productive life.
The
MoH works with Omni Med to fund and facilitate the training and
deployment of our Village Health Teams to the rural villages in the
Mukono district. The MoH was the original founder of the VHT
program, and therefore provides valuable insight and infrastructure
such that our program can create lasting change.

| USAID
Volunteers
for Prosperity |
 |
VfP
was established to encourage international voluntary service by highly
skilled Americans supporting our Nation's agenda to promote health and
prosperity around the world. Through
a range of activities, Volunteers for Prosperity promotes international
voluntary service and links experienced American professionals who wish
to volunteer with VfP Partner organizations. Volunteers
for Prosperity supports a new model of private-public cooperation in
foreign assistance. A wide range of organizations previously not
involved in official foreign assistance -- including smaller
faith-based and community groups, trade associations, and corporations
-- are joining to help highly skilled American volunteers
answer President Bush's call to service.
VfP works to provide enabling funding for Omni Med's Volunteers,
allowing them to participate in service activities they would
otherwise not be able to afford. Our volunteers
can qualify for public recognition of their contributions through the
President's Volunteer Service Award. |

School of Medicine |

The
UCSF School of Medicine fosters academic
excellence across the continuum of
medical education - from
their model curriculum to GME And Pathways to Discovery -- with the
Academy of Medical Educators setting exceptional standards for their
teachers.
UCSF
School of Medicine works in partnership
with Omni Med by recruiting its students of Public and Global
Health to parttake in our Uganda program as part of their
course
requirements. The volunteerism of these students greatly
augments the success of our program

Elizabeth's Medical Center |

St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Tufts University
School of Medicine, offers patients access to some of Boston's most
respected physicians and advanced treatments for a full-range of
medical specialties including family medicine, cardiovascular care,
women and infants' health, oncology, neurology care and orthopedics.
Omni Med's Dr. Edward O'Neil works at St. Elizabeths as an
emergency physician, and has recruited several of the residents at this
hosiptal to parttake in our various service programs. |
| TAMTAM |
 |
TAMTAM
is an
inovated volunteer organization with zero personnel costs.
For
only 7 dollars a net, they provide malaria-resistant
bed
nets to vulnerable individuals and households. Bed nets can reduce
child mortality by more than twenty percent. They
focus their free bed net distributions on vulnerable populations, such
as pregnant women and children under five, and on malaria-endemic areas
where there is large need and shortage of supply.
TAMTAM
works in concert with Omni Med, using the VHTs we train to help
distrubute TAMTAM's nets to the local population. Together we
help insure that our target populations have a lower rate of malaria
infection. |
| Building
Bridges
Coalition |

The
Building Bridges Coalition (BBC) is a consortium of leading
organizations working collaboratively to promote the field of
international volunteering. The BBC is a project of the
Brookings
Institution's Initiative on International Volunteering and Service and
is comprised of international volunteer organizations, corporations,
universities and colleges, government agencies, policy makers, and
other stakeholders. The BBC hopes to improve the quality of
international volunteer service, scale up the number of international
volunteers sent abroad annually, and maximize positive impacts of
international service in communities throughout the world, and at home
|
| Kyetume
Community
Based Health Care Programme |
 |
Kyetume
strives to improve the general health standards of underserved rural
people within Mukon District and Uganda at large by influencing
socio-economic and spiritual behavior of rural communities using a
community-based involvement/ participation/human rights approach.
Kyetume partners with Omni Med in running the VHT training program in
the Nakisunga sub-district
of Mukono District.
