ENT Clinic

The Omni Med ENT Clinic at Seeta Nazigo Health Center is a community-based clinic providing accessible ear, nose, and throat care to residents of the surrounding villages.

This clinic is unique because it is run by Village Health Teams (VHTs)—local community health workers who have been trained to provide basic ENT care and identify patients who need further treatment. By equipping community members with knowledge and tools, the clinic ensures that care is accessible, sustainable, and locally driven.

A Clinic Run by the Community

Each week, community members come to the clinic seeking help for issues such as:

  • Ear infections

  • Hearing problems

  • Nasal congestion and sinus issues

  • Throat infections

  • Foreign bodies in the ear or nose

  • Chronic ear discharge

VHTs provide basic screening, treatment when appropriate, and referrals when specialized care is needed.

How the Clinic Started

The ENT clinic began as part of a research initiative aimed at understanding the burden of untreated ear, nose, and throat conditions in the community.

Through this work, ENT specialists partnered with Omni Med to train VHTs in identifying and managing common ENT conditions. Doctors and specialists visited the area to provide hands-on training, mentorship, and clinical support.

This model allowed the program to move beyond short-term medical missions and instead build lasting local capacity.

Impact

Omni Med continues to support the clinic through:

  • Ongoing training opportunities

  • Partnerships with ENT specialists

  • Medical supply support

  • Continued research to improve community health

Together with the VHTs and the Seeta Nazigo Health Center team, the program aims to strengthen community healthcare systems and ensure that essential ENT services remain available for years to come.
