
Short Term Immersion
An intensive introduction to global health challenges and solutions in Uganda, ideal for individual visitors with limited time or student groups seeking an integrated clinical experience in community health. We have coordinated 7-day to two-week visits through the years, with each program specifically designed for each new group.
Program Overview
The 1-Week Immersion Program offers anyone, including undergraduate, nursing, medical, public health, and other students, doctors, nurses, PAs, virtually anyone with an interest, a comprehensive introduction to global health in Uganda. This program is designed for both individuals and groups (such as integrated programs in nursing or medical schools) to gain hands-on experience in grass-roots community health in Mukono District.
Participants engage with Village Health Teams (VHTs), visit local health centers, participate in home visits, school visits, assist in hypertension screenings, see cookstove constructions, visit protected water sources and interview VHTs involved in our mental health program. This program offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in a multi-faceted program building health infrastructure in rural Uganda while simultaneously reviewing overlying issues like health equity, the impacts of climate change and the efficacy of various program models.

This program is designed primarily for undergraduate, nursing, public health, and medical students seeking global health experience. Short immersive experiences are designed for both individual students and class groups.

Completion of required pre-departure training
