What is Ebola?
Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a severe viral illness that spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and, in severe cases, bleeding. Early detection, community awareness, and rapid referral are critical to preventing further spread.
In May 2026, the World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The current outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, for which there is no approved vaccine
